The APTA website provides links to programs that have been
approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical
Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy
Association. Under the heading "Education Programs" there
is a helpful section called "Student Resources" that
includes information for PT students as well as people who
are not yet in a PT program.
If you click first on "Membership and Leadership" and then
on "Chapters & Sections", you can read about the
sections/groups of PTs who are specialists in such areas as
acute care, hand rehabilitation, neurology, pediatrics,
geriatrics, and acquatic physical therapy.
Kay Ahern says that
she has benefited greatly from being a member of the
hand rehabilitation section. She says that being in a
section enables you to find members with similar
interests and problems. You can get information and
advice and even find mentors.
